Too soft; Too hard; Now, better be like WATER..

..learning martial art (like Tai chi, Aikido..) can help understanding ourselves.. I was once being reminded to be ‘too soft’! (过阴). That's weak and guess HE (sifu) meant my mind. Emm.. I was quite AGREE and I recalled my school day as student, not so active.. a bit quiet.. a little indecisive ..just don't dare to! Perhaps, university time was better little bit. So, I trained up myself to become tougher..

Later.. I was a university tutor and was very strict to students, and I thought it was for their good before understanding. However, being overly serious gave rise to opposition, which of no benefit to both side (for what?). Now I realize.. they (students) might not be able to catch up or it might not be a suitable way, at least for them and there are many WAYS.. The goal as TEACHER, should for their students' growth (also themselves, perhaps) with understanding and NEVER one way fit all (selfishness). Thus, HE said I'm ‘too stiff'! (过) Ya, lately especially I was.. but doesn't mean strong. Therefore, I should be soften up.. but until what suitable level?

SOFT or HARD ..which is the best? BOTH work and can work together, in many ways.. but not too extreme. It's very flexible and always adjustable indeed! After all, neither soft nor hard, there is nothing. We just need to understand.. Now, be like WATER ..
